Course Title Environmental Countermeasures by Refinery and Society -Water, Air, and Soil

Objective
Those who are involved in environmental management and measures at refineries will learn the history of environmental improvement in Japan, and broaden their knowledge of environmental standards and monitoring systems in Japan, as well as environmental countermeasures and management in the oil industry..
In addition, we aim to expand specialized knowledge such as air, water, and soil survey and analysis methods, environmental technology and countermeasures, and to make use of it in workplace activities.
Main Topics
1. Lecture:
・Overview of the oil industry in Japan
・History of environmental problems in Japan and environmental management at refineries
・Atmospheric monitoring and simulation
・Soil pollution countermeasures

2. Site Visit:
・Refinery: Environmental conservation efforts, GHG reduction, environmental equipment, 
    Initiatives aiming for carbon neutrality
・Environmental measurement and analysis equipment manufacturer:
    Measurement & analysis methods and techniques
・Water treatment company: Advanced water management
     (Water treatment chemicals, water treatment equipment, maintenance service)
・Waste treatment plant: Environmental measures, recycling etc.

3.Workshop: Home country or company’s environmental problems, countermeasures, future plans, etc.
Qualification
A university graduate or above who is engaged in, or intends to engage in, environmental management or countermeasures at a refinery, and is capable of daily conversation in English.
