Objective
The aim of this course is to learn about the Japanese government’s basic strategy for realizing a circular society, which is aimed at making effective use of resources, as well as recycling technologies and eco-activities, and to acquire the skills to plan measures to realize a circular economy that maximizes added value.

1. Lecture and Workshop:
・Circular economy in Japan
・Waste management and recycling in Japan
・Energy situation in Japan, renewable energy
*Workshops include mutual learning among participants

2. Site Visit:
・Oil companies and refineries
: Initiatives toward realizing a recycling-oriented society
・Plastic recycling companies
: Waste plastic recycling business
・Waste treatment plants
: Waste treatment technology, waste-to-energy generation
・Local governments introducing ecosystems
: Recycling business, utilization of renewable energy

3. Workshop
・Toward building a recycling-oriented society
: Participants share information with each other and find solutions 
to problems
Qualification
Mid-level employees who are involved in projects and related work aimed at building a recycling-oriented society in a refinery, environmental department, or planning department, and who also have the skills to conduct daily conversations and make presentations in English.
