Course Title Advanced Technologies for Refinery Power Plants

Objective
The objective of this course is to provide participants with the ability to complete the following tasks:
・Performance enhancement of thermal power plants at refineries
・Feasibility study and project management of new-built or remodeled/revamped thermal power plants
Main Topics
1. Lecture:
   ・	Overview of the Japanese petroleum industry and oil companies’ approach to the electric power business
   ・	Japanese oil companies’ advance to electric power business (power generation and sales) 
   ・	Classification and characteristics of various power generation facilities and technologies owned by Japanese companies
   ・	Technical factors affecting the competitiveness of thermal power generation facilities (fuel selection, power generation process, components, combustion, temperature, metal materials, etc.)
   ・	Lecture & workshop on project management for power generation EPC project

2. Site Visit:
・	Condition monitoring system developer (supplier)
・	Industrial steam turbine manufacturer (technical requirements for high-pressure pumps for boiler water supply)
・	GTCC manufacturing company (GTCC technology, tour of next-generation ACC demonstration test facility)
・	Refinery and/or LNG Terminal with thermal power generation plant (power generation plant with the heaviest fuel, including petroleum cokes, pitch, etc.)
・	Stand-alone thermal power plant (ACC-type thermal power generation plant of the highest thermal efficiency)
Qualification
Senior-level engineer to managers in charge of power plants, satisfying the following requirements.
1. Academic background: University Degree in Engineering
2. Job experience:
・ 7 to 12 years for participants from Gulf countries (Age: 30 - 35 0y.o.)
・ 10 to 18 years for other participants (Age: 32 - 42y.o.)
・ In the job field of designing, operating or maintaining the thermal power plants at oil refineries or petrochemical plants, or new-built or revamping project of the thermal power plants
3. Communication Skill by English Language
TOIEC Score: Not less than 700 or TOEFL/PBT Score: Not less than 540
